Standing in a kaleidoscope forest, breathing in the freshness of the cool air and listening to the light rain slowly drip through the branches above, as we watch rust-colored leaves dance around us before delicately landing on the wet ground. Moments like this are why hundreds of people drive for days to experience the colorful adventure of chasing fall in Vermont. And we aren’t ashamed to say, we totally drank the maple-flavored Kool-Aid.
Like many places in Colorado, Barr Lake is a great place to visit during any season. And it is the perfect place for bird watching in Colorado! Just a short drive northeast of Denver, this state park has a variety of trails and many great bird viewing areas. A daily pass is just $7 per vehicle. Or opt for an annual parks pass to all 42 Colorado state parks. The fee is $70 per vehicle. Plus, they have lots of fun educational events throughout the year!
On a cold Saturday morning, we met up with one of our favorite couples to check out a fun winter hike in Eldorado Canyon State Park. The park is right outside of Boulder and is a climbing mecca in the summer. But it is much less busy in the winter. So, we were excited to have the trails almost all to ourselves!
